A Simple Christian - by Rev. Dustin Parker

asimplechristian Being a Christian is simple - it starts as we realize what God has done for us, in cleansing us from sin, and giving us life. The rest is a relationship - walking together with God and all His people. Come join us at Concordia Lutheran Church in Cerritos - were we share in God's love and gifts together!

Net Neutrality

Well, not many people over here in Australia are particularly concerned with this issue, which can be more than a little worrying. Internet regulation is one of the biggest crimes against democracy, creativity, communication and humanity as a whole that is starting to raise its ugly head over in the USA.

Well Internet regulation be a problem for you? Well, lets see now. If you are any of these or use the internet for any of these things:

Small business person
Blogger
Artist
Gamer
Chatting
VOIP

So, pretty well all of us.

Check this link, tell me where you stand on this.

Not regulating can lead to the biggest crimes against humanity and God's laws, suffer the little children to come unto me, not to perverts and pedophiles, and violence against women, passive and active through porn, or are you, as a Christian, into that sort of thing.

Katyzzz,

it's not often I get lumped with such people. Usually people just call me blunt, rude and a little foul mouthed.

Which I can live with.

You say we need regulation? Fair enough. I agree with the fact that we do need standards on the internet. But where is the line drawn?

I ask in the spirit of honest arguement or discussion.

Yep it is a difficult issue.
Regulation happens already in many nations.
It is actually a question of what regulations are valid and what will be used to curtail human interaction.

This is yet another political matter thats been fused with commonsense to obscure reality to profit big business.

The only people who will benefit from the suffering of the many are the rich people, just like everything else political, only serving the itnerests of the few rich and powerful and it is simultaneously made to look like it's needed.

Damo,

That's pretty much the fine line that I think most parents and people are trying to find.

Yes, we don't want our kids being stalked and we don't want them exposed to certain aspects of humanity, or in certain contexts. But what line can we draw that still allows free interaction and creativity?

Me, I am thinking that there isn't such a line. I am also thinking that I will need to do some research on this and do another post.

Hey Ahmed,

very good point. Regulation will have massive benefits for the people that say that they own the internet while taking it away from the people that really do.

The people.

Glad to see you here. Sorry for stealing your thunder.

Hey Brenton,

I do as well.

Which is why I am going to do some more research on countries that are already regulating and the kind of things that they are filtering.

If anyone has some places to recommend or the names of countries that do, please share. I want to be thorough.
