What I've learned from being Married
November 21st 2007 13:04
I've learned I'm a selfish bastard.
At the moment, that is probably one of the most important things that I've learned. And it's good that I learn it early and don't ever forget it. I like to spend time with my computer (her name is Betsy) and reading and doing things by myself. I like to watch House and spend time thinking. I like to stay up late doing these things.
I like these things and I have to learn how to not be doing them all the time. I have to learn, and keep learning, that I can never stop learning this. I don't ever want to neglect my wife and my best friend Nata, but I know that I am going to fail at this from time to time. I am not saying this as a self-fulfilling prophecy, simply as a statement of my own humanity.
Married life doesn't mean I always get what I want. It's not about taking all that you can get from your partner. It's giving, and in that giving, you get. It's building, and in that building, you build.

Good post I have learned that giving is more rewarding than taking. I have been married for 27 years to the same woman, and find our marriage gets better all the time.
I use to be very selfish at the beginning of my marriage, but learned for both of use to be happy it's not always going to be what I want.
But like you JoshZ I learned, and I am still learning to be a better husband, and friend.

For the Sake of Argument
My Apologetics
Socks must be changed daily.
Shirts must be ironed before you wear them.
If you argue prove you case then apologize for being wrong - it is quicker.

yeah, I'm glad I caught this one early.
Funnily enough though, I know I'll neverhave it perfectly nailed down.
Thans for coming.

these are the 3 rules of marriage that my older brother gave me:
1.She's always right.
2.Rule with an iron fist.
3.Never forget, she's always right.
